Email archive: storage, capacity and data sovereignty

The archive storage is operated by Conbool and provided in two classes. The bookable capacity is agreed per contract, and the portal shows usage as the physical volume after deduplication.

Storage classes standard and compliance
Archive knows two storage classes, and only the plan label standard or compliance is visible in the portal. Standard secures immutability in software, so every archived message is locked against change and premature deletion. Compliance provides a dedicated WORM storage with an object lock per tenant, holding every object immutable until the end of the period. In both classes Conbool is the operator and provides the storage. The WORM principle and the hash chain are explained in retention and WORM.
Bookable capacity per contract
The capacity is an absolute total volume in gigabytes, agreed per contract and provided by Conbool. It is defined in the individual quote. In the portal the storage used figure and the plan label are visible. On activation and connection see setup.
Storage usage after deduplication
The usage shown is the physically occupied storage after deduplication and compression. Identical attachments and messages are held only once, so messages delivered several times and recurring attachments do not raise usage linearly. The figure in the portal therefore reflects actual consumption, not the sum of the raw messages.
Encryption at rest
Archive data at rest is always stored encrypted. The encryption is a fixed part of operations and cannot be switched off.
EU hosting and data sovereignty
Operation takes place exclusively in EU data centres by a German provider, and access under the US CLOUD Act is excluded. Cloud and on-premises come from one code base, so a later switch is possible without changing product. The entire holding thereby stays under European control.
