What Archive does

  • Capture of incoming, outgoing and internal messages right in the mail flow, without a mandatory connector.
  • Clear-text archiving: messages encrypted with S/MIME or PGP are stored searchably after decryption in the gateway, while the encrypted original is kept.
  • Immutable storage on the WORM principle, secured through an externally anchored hash chain.
  • Full-text search across subject, content, attachments and mailbox.
  • Retention periods under German commercial and tax law with automated deletion after expiry.
  • Storage usage as the physical volume after deduplication and compression, so identical messages and attachments are held only once.

EU hosting and data sovereignty

Operation takes place exclusively in EU data centres by a German provider. Access under the US CLOUD Act is excluded. Cloud and on-premises come from one code base, so a later switch is possible without changing product. Archive data at rest is always stored encrypted.

GoBD and retention obligations

Archive supports GoBD-compliant archiving with immutability, completeness and traceability. An official GoBD certification does not exist, and a pre-filled process documentation is included. Retention periods and the WORM principle are explained on the retention and WORM page.

Access and compliance

Every access is governed and traceable. Sensitive releases follow the four-eyes principle, and every access lands in the audit log. More under search and access and deletion concepts.
