Cryptshare is traditionally installed as an on-premise server at the customer site. It can also run at a service provider or in your own private cloud, and Pointsharp offers Cryptshare.express as a SaaS variant. Which variant fits is your choice.

Cryptshare traditionally uses a transfer password chosen by the sender and shared via a separate channel (e.g. SMS or phone) with the recipient. Recipient verification is part of the core concept. Cryptshare deliberately does not build on S/MIME or OpenPGP; the vendor positions its own route as an alternative that works without certificates, key exchange or user accounts on the recipient side.

Cryptshare is billed as an annual license per domain or server, split into a Business and an Enterprise edition. On-premise adds server operating costs. For the SaaS variant Cryptshare.express the vendor publishes an entry price per user per month; the server editions are negotiated by the vendor directly.
