Deployment · On-premises

Email archivingon-premisesin-house.

Full data control when cloud is not an option. Conbool Archive runs on-premises from the same codebase as the cloud – audit-proof, with WORM and object lock, connected to Exchange Server or Microsoft 365, without a proprietary appliance.

On-premises email archiving in your own data center

Audit-proof archiving with full data sovereignty, operated in your own infrastructure.

What sets on-premises apart

Three reasons that argue for running in-house.

Full data sovereignty

The archive data never leaves your data center. The contracting party is Conbool GmbH; operations are entirely yours – ideal for critical infrastructure and strict sovereignty requirements.

One codebase

Not a reduced on-prem derivative: it is the same product as the cloud, from one codebase. Feature scope, updates and security stay the same.

No appliance lock-in

Instead of a proprietary black box, Conbool Archive runs containerized in your environment, connected to your object store with object lock.

Archiving that runs in your own network

The full feature scope, operated locally.

Capture in your own mail flow

Connect Exchange Server or Microsoft 365 via gateway or journal rule, including internal mail via journaling.

WORM with object lock

Immutable storage on S3-compatible object storage with object lock in compliance mode, secured by a hash chain.

Periods and deletion concept

Retention classes under commercial and tax law, rule-based, with automated and logged deletion after expiry.

Full-text search locally

Search over subject, content and attachments, including gateway-decrypted encrypted mail – entirely in-house.

eDiscovery and audit

Cases, holds and dual control, a hash-chained audit log with SIEM export to your own SIEM.

Migration

Adopt legacy data from PST, MBOX and EML server-side, integrity proof via SHA-256.

Why Conbool on-premises

Four points that make the difference.

Cloud parity

The same codebase as the EU cloud. You can switch between cloud and on-premises at any time without replacing the solution.

Your object store, your lock

WORM is enforced via object lock on your S3-compatible storage – immutability is in your hands, not in someone else's cloud.

Cleartext search of encrypted mail

Gateway-decrypted S/MIME and PGP mail is additionally archived in searchable cleartext, locally.

Integrated suite

Archiving, inbound protection, encryption and signatures from one stack, on-premises too.

Productive in three steps

1

1. Deploy

Deploy Conbool Archive containerized in your environment, connected to your S3-compatible object store with object lock.

2

2. Connect the mail flow

Connect Exchange Server or Microsoft 365 via gateway or journal rule. Capture starts without interfering with delivery.

3

3. Adopt legacy data

Import existing archives, verify completeness, replace the old solution.

FAQ

Does Conbool Archive really run fully on-premises?
Yes. It is the same product as the cloud, from one codebase, operated containerized in your own infrastructure. The archive data never leaves your data center.
What storage does it need?
An S3-compatible object store. For hard WORM, Conbool uses the object-lock mode of the storage; by default, immutability is enforced software-side and secured by a hash chain.
Can I connect Exchange Server (on-premises)?
Yes. Exchange Server is connected via gateway in the mail flow or via a journal/transport rule. Microsoft 365 can be captured in parallel via a journal rule.
How do updates reach my in-house deployment?
Via signed container images. Since it is the same codebase as the cloud, you get the same feature level, in the maintenance window you choose.
Does on-premises capture internal mail too?
Yes, via journaling. Purely internal mailbox-to-mailbox messages are captured via the journaling integration, complementing the gateway tap.
Can I move to the cloud later?
Yes. Because of the identical codebase, moving between on-premises and the EU cloud is possible without replacing the solution.
