Email migration
Email migration: switch mailboxes, keep your addresses.
Migration in the portal brings over your mailboxes from Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, any IMAP server or PST files. It runs in the background while everyone keeps working.

Process
Email migration in five steps.
Copy first, then switch. That keeps delivery running throughout the move.
- 1
Add the domain
Create the domain in the portal. Delivery stays with the old system for now.
Delivery: current system - 2
Create mailboxes
One at a time or up to 500 from a CSV file. The addresses stay the same.
Delivery: current system - 3
Bring your content
Start migrations and follow them in the portal: running, done or failed.
Delivery: current system - 4
Switch DNS
Point the records for email to Conbool Mail. The portal checks each one.
Delivery: Conbool Mail - 5
Connect devices
Webmail right away, mail clients via IMAP, smartphones through ActiveSync.
Delivery: Conbool Mail
Migration during normal operation.
Migration runs in the background. Until the DNS records are switched, everyone keeps working in the old system.
Step by step instead of a cutover day.
Mailboxes that are already in Conbool Mail are delivered by Conbool. All other addresses of the domain still reach your existing server.
The source stays unchanged.
Migration copies, it does not move. Everything is kept at the source, and nothing is deleted at the destination.
Questions about email migration
How long does an email migration take?
That depends on mailbox size and the speed of the source. The copy runs in the background, and everyone keeps working in the old system meanwhile.
Switching email provider: do our addresses change?
No. The addresses belong to your domain, not to the provider. The DNS records of the domain are switched, the addresses stay.
Are calendars and contacts migrated as well?
From Microsoft 365 yes, together with messages and folders. Via IMAP, from Google Workspace and from PST files, messages and folders are migrated.
Do all mailboxes have to move on the same day?
No. Mailboxes in Conbool Mail are delivered by Conbool, all other addresses of the domain still reach the existing server. This allows you to migrate department by department.
What happens if a migration fails?
The portal shows the status of each mailbox. You create a failed migration again. Because nothing is deleted at the destination and nothing is changed at the source, the original state is preserved.
Can we migrate from an on-premises Exchange Server?
Yes, via IMAP or via PST files for each mailbox. If you want to keep operating the mailboxes in your own data centre, you can deploy Conbool Mail there as well.
Plan the migration, with your mailboxes.
We go through source, number and size with you and prepare the quote.
